Turning Conflict into Conversation. Bringing Ancient Stories to Life.

ABOUT SHALOM CARMEL

From the slopes of Mount Carmel, where the prophet Elijah once turned conflict into conversation, rises a brand dedicated to doing the same in our time. Shalom Carmel exists to take one of the world’s most confusing regions — the Middle East — and make it understandable, relatable, and deeply human.

Founded by Amir Katz, a Boston native who has lived in Israel for over 15 years, Shalom Carmel blends history, storytelling, and cultural experience into powerful encounters. Amir is a 4th-generation sommelier, certified Israeli tour guide, and Middle East scholar with a gift for turning complexity into clarity. Whether through a lecture, a guided discussion, or a culinary evening of wine and food, his work makes people feel connected to both the land and its people.

What makes Shalom Carmel unique is its ability to bridge divides. By drawing from biblical stories, modern politics, and personal experience, Amir transforms lectures into living conversations. Guests leave not only more informed, but also more empathetic — able to see the “other” in new ways.

At Shalom Carmel, you don’t just listen to history.
You taste it. You feel it. You live it.

The most engaging lecture I’ve ever attended.I’ve been to countless talks about the Middle East, but none have ever felt so clear and personal. Amir’s storytelling made history come alive, and I finally understood the complexities of Israel and its neighbors in a way that felt accessible. It wasn’t just information — it was an experience that shifted my perspective.
