Zion Reimagined
dynamics and dilemmas, when debating the world’s oldest tribe
This topic is available for both Jewish groups to talk about our ‘in-house’ Jewish themes, as well as for non-Jewish groups and students to learn about their Hebrew contemporary from an ‘outsiders’ perspective.
Indeed, the Jewish people are one of the oldest tribes of the world to maintain traditions and customs that date back thousands of years, and therefore it is important to navigate this extensive history with both a delicate, as well broad brush, considering the topics one needs to cover in order to take on this awesome challenge.
Anything less than a symposium or a full course will struggle to do this series justice, therefore we’ll do our best to make this symposium engaging and meaningful, thought-provoking, and hopefully leave the door open for more discussions and friendships, within our respective communities and across imagined borders.
Within the cannon of Jewish history, it is possible to approach this vast topic focusing on:
- First temple period
- Second temple period
- Mishna and Talmudic times
- The Crusades
- The golden age and Spanish expulsion
- The Jews at the dawn of modernity
- The Israeli lens
Join us for a wonderful debate, discussion, and good old fashioned symposium, about the Jewish people, a nation thst was born to argue.
